Why Is My Invoice Still Unpaid After Payment?

If you've already made payment but your invoice still shows as Unpaid, don't panic. In most cases, the issue is temporary and can be resolved quickly. The reason depends on the payment method you used and whether your payment has been successfully confirmed.

Common Reasons Why an Invoice Remains Unpaid

Online Payment Is Still Processing

If you paid using an online payment gateway such as a debit card, credit card, Paystack, Flutterwave, or cryptocurrency, the payment may still be processing.

This can happen because:

  • The payment gateway is still confirming the transaction.
  • Your bank has not yet completed the authorization.
  • There is a temporary delay between the payment gateway and our billing system.

In most cases, the invoice is updated automatically once the payment has been confirmed.

Bank Transfer Requires Verification

If you paid via bank transfer, your invoice will not be marked as paid automatically.

Bank transfer payments require manual verification by our Sales Team. Once your payment has been confirmed, your invoice status will be updated to Paid, and your service will be activated, renewed, or restored where applicable.

To speed up verification, we recommend sending your payment receipt or transaction reference to our Sales Team after making the transfer.

Payment Was Unsuccessful

Sometimes a payment may appear to have gone through, but it was actually declined or reversed by your bank or payment provider.

Possible reasons include:

  • Insufficient funds.
  • Card authorization failure.
  • Bank security checks.
  • Network or payment gateway interruptions.
  • Payment timeout before completion.

In these situations, the invoice will remain unpaid because no successful payment was received.

Payment Was Applied to Another Invoice

If you have multiple outstanding invoices, it's possible that your payment was applied to a different invoice.

You can verify this by reviewing your invoice history and payment records in your Client Area.

Account Credit Was Not Used

If you intended to pay using your available account credit but the payment wasn't completed, your invoice may remain unpaid until you manually apply the credit (where applicable) or complete the payment using another payment method.

What Should You Do?

If your invoice still shows as unpaid:

  • Wait a few minutes if you paid online, as processing may still be underway.
  • Refresh the invoice page or log out and back into your Client Area.
  • Check your bank account or payment gateway to confirm the payment was successful.
  • If you paid via bank transfer, allow time for verification and send your payment proof.
  • Contact our Sales Team if the invoice remains unpaid after a reasonable period.

Before Contacting Support

To help us investigate your payment quickly, please have the following information ready:

  • Invoice number.
  • Transaction reference or payment ID.
  • Payment method used.
  • Date and time of payment.
  • Payment receipt or proof of payment (if available).

We're Here to Help

If your invoice remains unpaid after you've completed payment, our Sales Team will be happy to investigate the transaction. Once your payment has been verified, we'll update your invoice and ensure your service is activated or renewed as quickly as possible.
