If your domain transfer to SIRSTEVEHQ has failed, it is usually because one or more transfer requirements were not met. Domain transfers are governed by registry rules, and a transfer request may be rejected if the domain is not eligible or if required information is missing or incorrect.
Common Reasons a Domain Transfer May Fail
- The domain is locked (Transfer Lock or Registrar Lock is enabled).
- An incorrect or invalid Authorisation Code (EPP Code) was provided.
- The domain was registered or transferred within the last 60 days (for most generic domain extensions such as .com, .net, and .org).
- The transfer request was rejected or not approved by the current registrar.
- The transfer approval email was not confirmed by the domain owner.
- The domain has expired or is no longer eligible for transfer.
- The domain is involved in a legal dispute or registry hold.
- The domain extension has special transfer requirements that have not been completed.
How to Troubleshoot a Failed Domain Transfer
Step 1 - Ensure your domain is unlocked with your current registrar.
Step 2 - Verify that you have entered the correct Authorisation Code (EPP Code).
Step 3 - Confirm that your domain is eligible for transfer and has not been registered or transferred within the last 60 days (where applicable).
Step 4 - Check the registered domain owner's email address for any transfer approval or confirmation emails.
Step 5 - Contact your current registrar to ensure there are no restrictions preventing the transfer.
If the issue has been resolved, you may submit a new transfer request through your SIRSTEVEHQ Client Area.
Please note that different domain extensions have different transfer policies. While many generic domains follow the standard EPP transfer process, some country-code domains (ccTLDs), such as .ng, .uk, and others, may have different requirements or may not use an Authorisation Code at all.
If your transfer request was unsuccessful, any applicable payment will be handled according to the registry's policies and the status of your transfer request. If you are unsure about the status of your order or whether you need to submit a new request, please contact our Support Team.
If you are unable to determine why your domain transfer failed, please submit a Support Ticket with the following information:
- The domain name you are attempting to transfer.
- Your domain extension (for example, .com or .ng).
- The name of your current registrar.
- Any error message you received.
- Your transfer order number (if available).
Our team will review your transfer request, identify the reason for the failure, and guide you through the steps required to complete the transfer successfully.
