How Do I Change the Nameservers for My Domain Name?

Changing your domain's nameservers allows you to point your domain to a different hosting provider or DNS service. Nameservers tell the internet where your website, email, and other domain-related services are hosted.

If you have purchased hosting from SIRSTEVEHQ, you should use the nameservers provided in your hosting welcome email or those listed in your Client Area. If you are using a third-party hosting provider or DNS service, you should use the nameservers supplied by that provider.

How to Change Your Domain's Nameservers

Step 1 - Log in to your SIRSTEVEHQ Client Area.

Step 2 - Navigate to Domains.

Step 3 - Select the domain you want to manage.

Step 4 - Click Nameservers or Manage Nameservers.

Step 5 - Choose whether to use the default nameservers or specify custom nameservers.

Step 6 - Enter the nameservers provided by your hosting or DNS provider.

Step 7 - Save your changes.

After updating your nameservers, the changes are submitted to the domain registry. DNS propagation may take up to 24 to 48 hours to complete worldwide, although many updates are reflected much sooner. During this period, some visitors may see the old website while others see the new one.

Before changing your nameservers, ensure that your website, email services, and DNS records have already been configured with your new hosting or DNS provider. Changing nameservers before your new services are ready may cause your website or email to become temporarily unavailable.

If your domain is registered with another registrar, you must change the nameservers through your current registrar's control panel unless you first transfer the domain to SIRSTEVEHQ.

If you experience any errors while updating your nameservers, or if the changes are not taking effect after the normal propagation period, please submit a Support Ticket. Our Support Team will verify your domain settings and help identify any issues.

Please note that changing nameservers affects the DNS management for your entire domain. If you only need to modify individual DNS records, such as an A Record, MX Record, CNAME Record, or TXT Record, you should update your DNS records instead of changing your nameservers.
