Yes. If you already own a domain name registered with another provider, you can use it with your SIRSTEVEHQ hosting service. There is no need to register a new domain unless you want to.
You have two options:
- Keep your domain registered with your current registrar and point it to your SIRSTEVEHQ hosting.
- Transfer your domain registration to SIRSTEVEHQ and manage both your domain and hosting from a single Client Area.
Option 1: Keep Your Domain with Your Current Registrar
If you wish to keep your domain registered with another provider, you simply need to point it to your SIRSTEVEHQ hosting account.
You can do this by updating either your domain's nameservers or its DNS records, depending on how you want to manage your DNS.
Using SIRSTEVEHQ Nameservers
Step 1 - Log in to the control panel of your current domain registrar.
Step 2 - Locate the Nameservers or DNS Management section.
Step 3 - Replace the existing nameservers with the nameservers provided in your SIRSTEVEHQ hosting welcome email or those displayed in your hosting service details.
Step 4 - Save your changes.
Step 5 - Allow up to 24 to 48 hours for DNS propagation.
Once propagation is complete, your domain will begin pointing to your SIRSTEVEHQ hosting account.
Using Your Existing DNS Provider
If you prefer to continue using your current DNS provider, you can simply update the required DNS records to point your domain to your SIRSTEVEHQ hosting server.
Typically, this involves updating records such as:
- A Record.
- AAAA Record (if applicable).
- CNAME Record.
- MX Record (if you want to use email services with SIRSTEVEHQ).
The exact DNS records required can be found in your hosting welcome email or by contacting our Support Team.
Option 2: Transfer Your Domain to SIRSTEVEHQ
If you would like to manage both your domain and hosting in one place, you can transfer your domain registration to SIRSTEVEHQ, provided your domain is eligible for transfer.
After the transfer is completed, you will be able to manage your domain through your Client Area, including:
- Domain renewals.
- Nameserver changes.
- Cloudflare DNS management.
- Domain security settings.
- Domain contact information (where permitted by the registry).
Using Cloudflare DNS
If your domain is registered with SIRSTEVEHQ, you can activate Cloudflare DNS directly from your Client Area.
Step 1 - Log in to your Client Area.
Step 2 - Navigate to Domains.
Step 3 - Select your domain.
Step 4 - Click Cloudflare DNS from the left-hand sidebar.
Step 5 - Activate Cloudflare DNS and verify your nameservers.
Step 6 - Once activation is complete, you can begin managing your DNS records directly from your Client Area.
Things to Consider Before Pointing Your Domain
- Ensure your hosting account has already been created.
- Verify that your website files have been uploaded before changing your DNS settings.
- Allow sufficient time for DNS propagation after making changes.
- Ensure any required email DNS records are correctly configured if you intend to use email services.
